Accessibility

We want to make sure all our visitors have the best experience possible. Here’s what you need to know before you visit.

The Cartoon Museum is fully wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are permitted everywhere in the museum, including in both galleries and the toilet.

Unfortunately, our main lift is currently out of order. We are operating a backup lift next to the main entrance door. To use it please ring the doorbell, and a member of staff will come up and let you in to use the lift. We are fundraising to replace our lift and hope to have it working again soon. Thank you for your understanding.

You can borrow sensory backpacks for free at the front desk to make your visit more comfortable and enjoyable. These have been specially designed for autistic, neurodivergent and learning-disabled visitors of all ages, as well as visitors with anxiety.

Young visitors can refer to our easy-to-read Look and See guide to know what to expect when they visit the museum. Visitors with anxiety and autism might also find this guide useful.

Visually Impaired visitors can borrow a magnifying glass at front desk. We also have large print labels to ensure all visitors can comfortably read exhibition text.
