After the Darkness

‘After the Darkness’ is a special display to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The exhibit, arranged in partnership with Blind Veterans UK, seeks to shine a light on the veterans’ service, but also raise awareness of the challenges faced by veterans living with sight loss. The artworks on display portray the VE Day memories of 13 ex-service personnel, along with their personal stories, brought to life through wonderful evocative recreations drawn by illustrator and long-term supporter of Blind Veterans UK, Martin Impey.

The exhibit runs from 22 April – 29 June. We will be offering a special discount for current and ex-armed forces personnel during the exhibit's run.

On 8 May we will host a special event to mark VE Day’s 80th anniversary, with the museum displaying rarely WW2 cartoons from its archive for visitors to explore.

Blind Veterans UK helps vision-impaired ex-Service men and women of every generation rebuild their lives after sight loss. Since 1915 they have provided rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support to tens of thousands of blind veterans. To learn more about their work visit www.blindveterans.org.uk
