This year, in collaboration with Cartoon Museum, Aardman celebrates the 30th anniversary of Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers.
Released in 1993, The Wrong Trousers was the first film starring the beloved duo to win an Academy Award® and introduced fan favourite Feathers McGraw, a villainous penguin with ambitions to put Wallace’s inventions to criminal use.
As part of the Cartoon Museum exhibition showcasing Wallace & Gromit artwork and production artefacts over the years (September 2023 – April 2024), we’re delighted to announce a one-off, online panel discussion with Wallace & Gromit creator, Nick Park, and renowned cinematographer Dave Alex Riddett. Nick Park is a four time Academy Award® winner, three in the category of Best Animated Short Film – and one in the Best Animated Feature Film category. Dave Alex Riddett is a BAFTA® nominated cinematographer and has collaborated closely with Nick Park throughout his career, including on The Wrong Trousers.
The event will be hosted by Ivanka T. Hahnenberger. She has over 20 years experience in international animation, live action and special effects production. Her company VIP Brands co-initiated the Comics Corner and three Ragazzi Comics Prizes at Bologna Book Fair; curated the Comics Center at Frankfurt Book Fair and founded the global Sophie Castille Awards for comics in translation. She is now working to establish British Graphic Novel and Comics awards and many more Comics-to-Screen events.
The event will start online at 7pm with a screening of The Wrong Trousers, followed by the panel discussion.
(Please ignore the wording on your ticket confirmation that implies you should 'bring your ticket with you' - the event is online so you'll be watching from your home or venue of choice! A Zoom link will be sent out nearer to the date of the event and you will need to register ahead of time.)
The 30th anniversary celebrations coincide with the production of a brand-new Wallace & Gromit film – the first since 2008’s A Matter of Loaf and Death. It is set for release in 2024.
